Dr. James Rojas As great numbers of Latino immigrants settle into the American city, they bring with them attitudes towards the street that oftentimes differ from those of many longtime American residents. Streets in Latin America often have pedestrian amenities woven into them, and frequently vehicles must share space with mobile and temporary amenities such as pop-up markets, food vendors, and restaurants. The notion that streets are simply space for cars is foreign to many immigrants coming to the US from Latin America. This phenomenon of people bringing a completely different set of attitudes toward the American street presents a wealth of opportunities. Slide presentation and discussion.
